Question: What is the durability index?
Answer: A consistent method of rating each fabric's performance capacity, from durable to delicate. Making it easier than ever to manage expectations while providing you, as our valued customer, with the best and most useful advice, you'll find a DI score on every seasonal fabric sticker.
USING A SCALE OF 1 TO 5, THE DURABILITY INDEX SHOULD BE UNDERSTOOD AS FOLLOWS:
DI - 1/2
The most delicate fabrics, requiring gentle care. Often lightweight and luxury fabrics. DI-1s and DI-2s should be worn sparingly and are most appropriately reserved for special occasions.
DI - 3
Intermediate fabrics, suitable for moderate use. A middle ground in terms of materials and durability, DI-3s can be worn fairly often, but not intensively.
DI - 4/5
This most durable fabrics, built to withstand routine use. Superior in terms of lifespan and resilience, DI-4s and DI-5s may be worn with frequency but they require conscious maintenance in order to ensure their integrity - this includes the correct use of hangers, wearing one's garments no more than twice per week with at least one day of rest in between, and allowing the garments to sufficiently air out when not in use.
